National Propane Days were held JUNE 8-10 in Washington, DC. Propane Days includes NPGA’s Annual and Board of Directors Meetings and the association’s annual advocacy day on Capitol Hill. Members of the propane gas industry met with a record 320+ House and Senate offices. On the Illinois Side, we had three groups that met with 19 offices and had a very productive day. As a new attendee this year and, having no experience meeting with politicians, it was an awesome event to see how the capital really flows. To get to talk to the aides and sometimes the representatives was quite enjoyable. They are very focused and extremely knowledgeable.  Be ready for a great conversation.
On the less formal side, getting to talk with others in the same industry and to hear how they have addressed the same challenges as you do was invaluable. Listening, learning and finding different solutions to what we all face, and how what works there but not here, was probably my favorite part. I took home a lot of wisdom gained from the collective years of everyone there and am very much looking forward to going again next year.
