First of all, I would like to pass on some information provided to us by one our associate members. I will not mention who it came from as it is not the intention of the IPGA to endorse one member over another. This is the message they would like to pass on:
“Earlier this month it was announced that Travelers Insurance Company will begin exiting the propane insurance market. Travelers will not be cancelling policies until renewal dates, but it’s important that marketers insured with Travelers be aware of this action.”
If you are insured with Travelers and don’t have another carrier lined up feel free to reach out to the association and we can give you a couple of other options. I have already had a couple of members that are being affected contact us about this issue.

We had our first group of companies participating in the Intern Program send their interns in to the office for a very brief orientation class. We covered what to expect during the program and some basic principle and properties of propane. We have 5 companies participating so far and want to remind everyone else that the program is still available to anyone that is interested. This program is a great way to find potential employees. Remember the best employees are the ones that you can train the way you want to have things done. I have had a few companies say that they can’t find people for the program but they are out there. I found a young person where I live that just graduated the wants to work with his hands and is looking for an internship or apprentice program but didn’t know what he wanted to do. After a few minutes talking to him, he was very interested. I wish I could find a company that is willing to take the time and make an investment in a young person that will make someone a great employee. He just needs the chance to prove what he can do. The first step is to put it out there that you are willing to start with an internship and possible full-time job if things work out.

Don’t forget you can still sign up for the Baseball game outing in Peoria on the 29th. This will be a good opportunity to relax and take in a minor league Cub/Cardinal game with some fireworks after. This is open to all members and their employees and families. There is still room available, Dozier Park is a great family atmosphere to watch a game. We have the picnic area reserved. Please call the office to reserve your tickets or sign up online (see the newsletter for the link).

I want to thank all the members that have filled out the Propane Annual Sales Report. I realize this is not mandatory but it does provide our NPGA, PERC and the Illinois Association with very important information that we use in our lobbying efforts for our members and this also helps with determining funds that we receive from PERC. I know it might not seem important but this is where we get our funding to put on the programs like our rebates that we provide and the funding for our CETP classes and other training that are provided to our members at no charge. Illinois is one of a few states that does not charge for training and meetings. Renee will be putting all the member names that complete the report into a drawing for an ILLINOIS SAVES WITH PROPANE cooler after the report deadline on June 15th. If you have not filled out your sales report there is still time.

That’s all I have for now. Be safe out there.
Brad
